It is deeply saddening to learn of Tom Shishman's passing. It was a great privilege to work with Tom when he served as the Director of the Energy Institute at the University of New Mexico during the 1970s and 1980s. He was a passionate advocate for university faculty in their research efforts in energy- and environmental-related fields. During his tenure, these faculty-led efforts produced a myriad of benefits including the development of the New Mexico energy-efficient building code, which was recognized as a national model as the first of its kind in the nation. Tom's outstanding leadership and hard work had a strong, positive impact on New Mexico as well as the research community. His hallmark was cultivating successful collaborations with the state's universities and public and private partners. The grace of his good works will be sustained through the many lives that he enriched and the programs that he strengthened. Charles Wood, Round Rock, TX
